Jikan: Kizuna Effects
Aug. 3rd, 2021 09:40 pmSouma's Kizuna Effects
Souma's people the Itou are well-known in his world for their hard-working and industrious nature. They re-use every last bit of fabric or metal, trying not to waste a thing. When they are not farming or physically training, they busy themselves with handicrafts: weaving fabric, knitting, crafting better armor, mending clothing, building fences, using rags and scraps to make sandals or rugs, patchwork quilting blankets, etc. These items the Itou craft are used as gifts to build bonds between individuals as well as aid in diplomacy with other bloodlines and yokai tribes.
Therefore, after spending time with Souma, you may find yourself itching to craft or make something for somebody! You may find that you have ideas for upcycling items that might be wasted otherwise.
Visual Effect: Shadow Marking
Itou use their shadows to create patterns around or on the people that they feel a bond with, expressing their feelings of attachment, high regard, affection, or possessiveness. This is the way they express drawing someone in to their inner world, making them family, or growing trust. When you spend time building kizuna with Souma, you may find that the effect of his shadow follows you for a period of time in these forms (designs are players choice/invention. They tend to be natural or geometric in form. Maybe yours look like lace, water currents, flower petals, electrical circuits...):
Mental Effect: Clingtastic
Souma has grown up in a very hands-off culture, but his desire to have closeness and intimacy with his friends or loved ones is very strong. Therefore, as you develop kizuna with him, you might find that you have an enhanced desire to be close to any person you have a relationship with around you. These don't have to apply to you interacting with Souma, they can be used to affect you when you are with anyone you care about or have a strong bond with.
All effects are optional and should be agreed upon between players. You may pick and choose effects or elements within them at your own preference. Nothing listed is required of you to use. Use what would be fun for you.

- Mild: You have the urge to craft or design something about the size of your hand, or a dozen items of some type. It may be a form of creation you are familiar with. It will bother you if you don't get the supplies you need. You might even buy the supplies and then forget to finish the project.
- Medium: You have the urge to create something about the size of 2 feet x 2 feet, or two dozen small items. It is most likely to be a form of crafting which you have never tried before. Perhaps you feel the urge to knit a scarf, bake a cake, or learn how to whittle wood-- whatever it is, your hands are itching to get to work. If you resist, you may start to feel frustrated or disappointed with yourself. You might hyperfocus on the creative process, forgetting anything else going on.
- Strong: You feel the urge to become a master a new crafting or designing skill no matter what it takes. Perfectionism might be your middle name in your crafting endeavor. You have creative ideas with which to reduce waste or re-use or upcycle materials. Money may be no object when it comes to supplies. You might feel an intense need to secretly find out what your friends like and need-- and to give the creations you make to someone to build your relationship. A reaction from them feels priceless, and you may be crushed if they react poorly. You may or may not devote a corner or room of your residence to this pursuit, and it gets messier the more your Kizuna with Souma develops.

- Mild: Thin black undulating lines of a very simple design particular to you and your personality or the way you feel about Souma pool at the base of your feet around you on the ground or floor, and follow you when you move. They turn slowly around you, surrounding your person. This may last for an hour.
- Medium: Shadow marking designs appear on your hands and possibly arms, lasting for up to 3 hours. They are more elaborate and detailed than before and look like they are drawn by an ink calligraphy artist. They seem to breathe on your skin.
- Strong: Your shadow markings are quite detailed, like a very well-done tattoo, and may cover parts of your body such as the back, neck, arms, legs, etc. (Player's choice). Pictures of objects that symbolize who you are or the nature of your bond with Souma may be part of the design. It can last on the body in whole or in part, for as long as you want it to.

These don't have to apply to you interacting with Souma, they can be used to affect you when you are with anyone you care about or have a strong bond with.
- Mild: You desire to stand nearer people you are interested in than you normally would. You want to touch hands or lay your hand on their arm or shoulder, poke a cheek, play with their hair.
- Medium: You give great hugs. You want to sit as close to the other person as you possibly can. You may want to do things to build intimacy with physical touch such as brush out their hair, perform first aid, or give shoulder rubs. Lap-sitting sounds like a great idea. Any excuse you have to lay your head on someone's shoulder, you want to take it. When you do have physical contact with someone you like, you feel a sense of safety and familiarity. You might alienate those who don't like all this cuddly and touchy-feely stuff.
- Strong: You may feel touch-starved. You might be that annoyingly clingy friend who stands too close and touches too much. You want caresses and cuddles and maybe even kisses, and to be held for long periods of time. You love to feed them by hand or have them feed you. You want to take naps together. You are borrowing their clothes or fragrance. You long to feel constantly connected, and when you are, you may feel euphoria or feel that your life has meaning. Matters in your life that previously caused you trouble seem diminished and everything weighing on your mind seems to make perfect sense now. If you let go or cannot be together, it irritates you.
